Tuesday Thoughts: “No agencies please”

“No agencies please”.

Must be a statement I see at least once a day – from a business posting a job they are looking to hire for directly.

As the owner of one of those “agencies” (although I hate the term and by the way there is a BIG difference between an agency and a recruitment consultancy. SimkissGuy Recruitment is a consultancy, not an agency!), it makes me so sad.

Having spent 20 years in recruitment, firstly for two leading independent consultancies, and then as the founder of SimkissGuy Recruitment Ltd over 10 years ago, I KNOW the value that a company can gain from working with a high quality recruitment partner.

Want to know why?

Partnering with a recruitment consultancy offers numerous advantages, not least of all that you can streamline the hiring process and lead to successful talent acquisition for your businesses. Good news.

A recruitment business – the good ones anyway – will absolutely know the best way to tackle sourcing and screening candidates specifically in your market, saving you valuable time. Have you considered how much your time costs when recruiting by the way? You will be surprised. But I will write about that another time.

A recruitment partner will have access to a wide network of potential candidates, including – importantly – those job seekers who may not be actively searching for new opportunities. This extensive reach allows your recruitment partner to find candidates not available on the wider market, with specific skill sets and qualifications that align perfectly with your requirements.

Next up is the pre-screening, conducting those thorough candidate interview and assessments, ensuring that only the most qualified and suitable candidates are presented to your business. You will be able to tell whether a recruitment partner has really interviewed and assessed any candidate they send you. Ask a couple of questions. A good recruitment partner will be able to tell you exactly what you need to know. Immediately.

Still not convinced? Ok, well a recruitment partner will often possess valuable insights into market trends, salary benchmarks, and industry best practices, enabling your business to stay competitive in attracting top talent.

Need further assurance? A great recruitment consultancy will provide you their guidance throughout the entire recruitment process, from initial job posting to final job offer, ensures a smooth and efficient hiring journey. This gives you time to focus on your core activities as a business, fostering growth and success in the long run.

So I guess the real question is; can you afford to not work with a great recruitment consultancy?
