Rebecca Simkiss Becomes Chair of BPS Birmingham Future!

At a dinner last night at Birmingham’s Malmaison Hotel, our very own Joint Managing Director, Rebecca Simkiss, became BPS Birmingham Future’s new Chair, taking on the role from Michael Shepherd, Associate at Beckford James Chartered Financial Planners.
As you will know, Becky has served as Deputy Chair of Future for the past twelve months and part of her new role will now also serve on the Board of BPS Birmingham.
Also revealed at the event was the new Deputy Chair of the organisation, Tara Tomes. Tara is owner of PR consultancy East Village and a long standing member of the Birmingham Future Leadership team.
Becky will serve for a twelve month term and in her opening address at the event she highlighted her key themes and objectives for the year ahead.
Over the coming year, Future will develop the work it undertakes to provide support for personal and professional development of young professionals working in the city’s business and professional services sector. Becky also revealed the creation of a Future Mentoring Academy, to further build on the reputation and success of the two mentoring schemes Future operates, Future Mentoring and Aspire Mentoring.
Becky also highlighted Future’s commitment to provide members with opportunities to further develop leadership skills with a programme of events and workshops being held in partnership with a range of organisations.
During her inaugural speech last night Becky, reflecting on the importance of mentoring on developing skills of young professionals, said;
“Mentoring has had a major impact on my personal career journey, so it is naturally something very close to my heart. I believe that mentoring lies at the very core of what Future stands for. Our two mentoring schemes; Future Mentoring and Aspire Mentoring, bring together aspiring, emerging and established leaders, as individuals who can learn from each other, be inspired by each other and most importantly, be a place for support and the vital port of call that we all need from time to time to in our working lives.”
Over 100 Birmingham Future members and guests attended the event to wish Becky well in her year.
We are looking forward to supporting her in her year as Chair!
