My time with SimkissGuy – Emily Hill

I always knew I wanted to gain some professional experience through an internship in the city centre of Birmingham. I tried to find a company that resonated with me through my university’s career events.
I first heard about SimkissGuy Recruitment through a talk that one of their team members gave at my university. SimkissGuy especially caught my interest as they really focus on understanding their clients and candidates’ needs. This immediately dispelled all the stereotypes I had about recruitment! I contacted them and managed to obtain an internship, which I was ecstatic about.
As it was my first experience in an office environment I was nervous to start, but they were all so welcoming and patient with me as I learnt the basics. I did not expect to be given so much responsibility at an internship but I have been pleasantly surprised at SimkissGuy. I am learning important administrative skills and am becoming much more confident with my communication on the phone. I help manage the relationship with SimkissGuy’s candidates and have the chance to discover any changes to their circumstances that will help us with their job search. Attending networking events has improved my professional social skills and I am absorbing so much knowledge from the SimkissGuy office. I am also really enjoying the office chat!
One area that I love about SimkissGuy is how enthusiastic they are about the city of Birmingham. Since I hope to stay in Birmingham after university, I love learning about what the city has to offer and redevelopments that the city is undertaking.
Working more frequently I have realised how difficult it is to build your career in this current job market. This makes me so grateful for the all the skills I have learnt from SimkissGuy and I look forward to the rest of my time here. I would highly recommend SimkissGuy if you are on the look out for an internship, I am sure you will enjoy your time here like I am!
