Are you an experienced and hardworking Senior Mortgage Underwriter with experience of manually processing complex and challenging mortgage applications? Do you have extensive experience of working in a fast-paced financial services environment? Would you thrive in a friendly, supportive and people-centric business? We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mortgage Underwriter to join a well-respected organisation in North Birmingham, offering flexible hybrid working.
Working as part of a lively, energetic team within this thriving business, you will have a wonderful customer service ethic for this 5 star rated provider, and a passion for going the extra mile for your customers. You will have extensive experience within Mortgages, manually assessing complex business risk and undertaking all due diligence, risk and compliance checks, in line with regulations and requirements.
You will be an experienced manual mortgage underwriter, knowledgeable and practiced in the underwriting and processing of complex mortgage cases involving applications from self-employed, Ltd Company and sole trader accounts, as well as applications for Help to Buy, Shared Ownership and interest only mortgages. You will have an analytical approach as well as an excellent eye for detail when reviewing a range of supporting evidence for your cases, such as annual accounts.
With a calm and assured approach, able to handle a high workload whilst working under pressure, you will be able to coach and guide colleagues, acting as the “go to” person in your team for complex mortgage case handling and underwriting queries. Experience of other complex underwriting such as 2nd Charge or Bridging Lending would be an advantage, although not essential. You will be ideally CeMap qualified and will possess a current mortgage lending mandate, ideally with around 5 years of complex mortgage manual underwriting, and extensive experience as a mortgage processor before this. You will be ensuring offers are produced correctly, making sure policy and business reasoning is sound at all times.
An organised and methodical approach will be essential, as well as outstanding organisational skills and the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that you can provide the very best service within strict timescales. Naturally, you will have excellent IT skills and a strong understanding of current mortgage products. This is a high-pressure role, so you will need to be the type of person with a “roll up your sleeves” attitude to all that you attempt.
In return you will receive a fantastic salary, wonderful benefits, the option for flexible remote working up to 4 days a week and the opportunity to join an outstanding organisation with a reputation for excellence.
