Interviewing Innovation – A Client Case Study

Here at SimkissGuy Recruitment, we understand that your workforce is one of the most valuable assets of your business. And, importantly, this hasn’t changed during these unusual times we find ourselves in – indeed, maybe more than ever, employers are relying on dedicated teams to ensure that business runs as normal to exceed client expectations and continue to deliver outstanding service.
Over the past few weeks we have seen first-hand how our clients are implementing innovative solutions to ensure that the recruitment and on-boarding of staff continues with ease and are keen to share this with you, to help you with your recruitment journey.
Conducting remote online interviews is absolutely key – there are plenty of online platforms currently available and this will be essential in finding the right candidate. Remote interviewing offers a flexible solution, as calls can be scheduled around your already busy workday, and removes any risk associated with travelling and self-isolation. These platforms also allow you to be ‘visible’ when liaising with prospective candidates, allowing you to build a greater rapport. Online interviews allow you and the candidate to gain a far greater sense of personality in comparison with telephone interviews – although these can also be a flexible and valuable solution to face-to-face interviewing. Best of all, both online and telephone interviews still enable you to follow your usual interview structure and ask competency and skills-based questions, to ascertain that you’re recruiting the right individual.
Once you’ve conducted your interviews and found the perfect candidate, you may worry about the challenge of on-boarding and training. Think again! We have seen numerous companies who have taken their usual training schedule and moved these to online platforms. Functions such as split-screen and conference calls allow you to deliver a thorough and robust training plan to new starters on systems and processes, whilst still providing a dedicated line for any queries or questions from both parties.
Whilst recruitment during these unchartered waters might seem like a daunting experience, utilising the online tools available, and ensuring open and transparent channel of communication (whichever form they may take for your business) will ensure that you still attract and retain the right talent and, most importantly, that business continues as normal.
