Hello Real World! – Preeya

Having graduated from Aston University with a degree in Biomedical Science, I realised a career within the lab wasn’t for me. I am currently still at Aston University as I love Birmingham, but now completing my master’s in Business and Management. The dramatic change from science to business was the best decision I could have made as I am able to contribute more creative ideas and I feel it suits me better. I am thoroughly enjoying my course as it covers the theory behind successful management and general business activities, however I wanted to gain some professional experience through an internship.
SimkissGuy first caught my interest at a work experience talk held at Aston Business School by one of their team members. The talk was delivered with so much enthusiasm, that I had to research more about the company! SimkissGuy avidly focus on understanding individual candidate and client needs, but in a friendly and consultative manner. I had a wonderful interview with one of the team members and was delighted to secure an internship which would help me develop my office and business skills.
This is my first ever experience within an office environment and to begin with I felt nervous on what to expect, but the team have all been so friendly, which has put me at ease. I join the team twice a week which has allowed me to gain valuable office experience. Although I am only three weeks in, the amount of knowledge of the recruitment industry and skills I have gained already has been amazing. I am learning vital administrative skills, professionalism and how to maintain relationships with candidates through regular catch-up calls.
Each week I have been learning a new function, which is helping to broaden my knowledge and is really interesting! My personal goal which I want to achieve from the internship is to improve my confidence, which I believe has significantly improved by communicating with candidates on the phone. I am really enjoying talking to lots of different people who are from various career backgrounds and helping to aid them with their job search.
I feel from working with SimkissGuy, I appreciate the time, motivation and dedication everyone has for their clients and candidates. Previously, I didn’t realise the amount of hard-work that was involved with recruitment and I really love how committed everyone is in providing exceptional care.
Another thing I love about the team is their passion for Birmingham! Having studied here for 5 years, the atmosphere both socially and professionally motivated me to secure a graduate trainee management role with a Birmingham-based company. I am excited to begin my management career at the heart of a rapidly growing, innovating city, however having been exposed to the SimkissGuy environment, I would also keep my options open to a potential career within recruitment in the future.
I have been lucky to join such a vibrant, caring team who are helping me develop in so many ways. I am extremely grateful for all the skills I am learning and look forward to the rest of my time with SimkissGuy.
